Yellow perch are remarkable parents! In
spring, they gather in shallow waters to lay eggs. The female can lay up to 200,000 eggs! π₯
These eggs are sticky, so they attach to plants and rocks. After about 10 days, baby perch hatch from the eggs. π£
They start as tiny fish, but they grow quickly. Young yellow perch, called fry, stay close to plants for safety. It takes three to four years for them to reach adulthood, and then they can start their own families and continue the life cycle! π±
