United States Congress in 1816 and later became the governor of the Indiana Territory. As governor, he helped make laws that would guide settlers in the area. Harrison's strong leadership made him popular! In 1840, he ran for president against Martin Van Buren. With a catchy slogan, βTippecanoe and Tyler Too,β Harrison and his running mate, John Tyler, won the election! π
