When itβs time to mate, red-tailed hawks perform impressive courtship flights! π
These birds usually choose a mate for life. They build large nests high in trees, often reusing the same nest
year after year. These nests can be as big as 3 feet across! Inside, the female lays 1 to 5 eggs, which are incubated for about 28-35 days. π₯
Both parents help take care of the hatchlings. After about 6-7 weeks, the baby hawks, called eyasses, learn to fly and hunt alongside their parents. The bond between them is strong, and they teach their young important survival skills!
