Pollock reproduce by laying eggs, a process called spawning. π₯
Atlantic pollock spawn from March to April, while Pacific pollock spawn from April to June, depending on the water
temperature. The female pollock can lay millions of eggs at once! π
Once the eggs hatch, baby pollock, called larvae, drift in the water for weeks before growing into juvenile fish and swimming to safer, shallower areas. The young pollock have a hard time at first, as they must avoid predators while learning how to hunt for food! π
