Latin began over 2,500 years ago in Italy. ๐
It came from a group of tribes living near the
Tiber River. The Romans expanded their empire to many countries, and as they traveled, so did Latin! ๐
By about 500 AD, Latin had split into different versions because of different regions, which later grew into the Romance languages. Famous Roman poets like Virgil and Ovid wrote stories in Latin that are still studied today! ๐
It's fascinating to think that something that started as a simple language has shaped so many others!
