King Ezana played an essential role in the spread of Christianity in Africa. βͺ
Initially, he practiced traditional Aksumite beliefs, but after meeting a Christian merchant named Frumentius, he became fascinated by Christianity. He eventually decided to adopt it as the
state religion around 330 AD! This made Aksum one of the first Christian empires in the world. π
Ezana built churches in Aksum, including the famous Church of St. Mary of Zion, which is still important to Christians today. His actions greatly influenced the beliefs and cultures of the people in his empire and beyond!
