The Helmand River flows through different regions of Afghanistan, including Helmand Province, which is named after the river! π
The river begins in the southern part of the
Hindu Kush mountains, then flows southwest into the desert areas. It creates lush green valleys called oases as it travels. π±
Finally, it finishes its journey in the Sistan Basin, which is close to the border with Iran. This area is mostly desert, but the river helps make it a little more livable!
