The Great Salt Lake was formed during the last Ice Age, about 30,000 years ago! β
οΈ Back then, it was part of a much larger lake called Lake Bonneville. π
As the ice melted and focused shifted, the lake shrank down to what we see today. Indigenous peoples, like the
Shoshone and Ute tribes, lived along its shores for thousands of years. Their ancestors used the lake's resources for food and trade. β
οΈ In the mid-1800s, pioneers settled in the area, drawn by its unique features.
