The Douro River starts high in the mountains and travels through many different landscapes. π
In Spain, the river is called "Duero." It moves through hills, valleys, and even some cities like Salamanca before entering
Portugal. In Portugal, the Douro cuts through the Douro Valley, known for its steep vineyards where grapes grow. The river flows for about 115 kilometers (71 miles) through Portugal before reaching Porto. In Porto, you can see beautiful bridges crossing the river, like the Dom LuΓs I Bridge! π
This river creates natural borders and is essential for both countries.
