Davenport was founded in 1836 by a man named Antoine LeClaire. He bought land from the
government and named the city after his friend, Colonel George Davenport. π°
The city grew quickly because of its location next to the Mississippi River, which helped transport goods and people. By the mid-1800s, Davenport became an important railroad hub. π
During the 20th century, it developed more parks, schools, and businesses. The annual Great Mississippi Valley Fair began in 1853 and continues today π, showcasing the cityβs rich culture. Each year, the fair brings together families, games, and delicious food! π
