Korean has a fascinating relationship with
Chinese characters, too! 🇰🇷 They are called "Hanja" (한자), and were used in Korea for about 1,500 years. Hanja characters were borrowed from Chinese, just like kanji in Japan! For example, the character for "water" (水) is the same in both languages. 🌊
However, in the 15th century, the Korean alphabet called Hangul (한글) was created to make reading and writing easier. Today, some people still use Hanja, especially in newspapers and history books. 📖
It shows the connection between the two cultures!
