Charlie Parker grew up in a musical family. His mother, Addie, played the piano, and his father, Charles, was a jazz musician. π΅
Parker started playing the
alto saxophone when he was just 11 years old! He lived in Kansas City, a city known for jazz. There, young Charlie listened to lots of amazing musicians, which helped him learn and grow. πΆ
However, school wasnβt easy for him because he never liked being told what to do! He dropped out but continued to play music everywhere he could β from clubs to street corners.
