Ceramics have a rich history that began in ancient times. In about 29,000 BCE, humans in what is now Germany made the Venus of Hohle Fels, a small clay figure. ๐
In China, the oldest pottery, called Xianrendong, dates back to 20,000 BCE! By 2500 BCE, people in Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) were creating beautiful pottery with designs. The Egyptians made painted ceramics for their pharaohs, too! ๐ช๐ฌ In Japan, Intangible Cultural Heritage recognized traditional pottery, like Mingei, representing people's unique shapes and colors. Today, we still use ancient techniques to create new ceramics! Isn't history exciting? ๐
